Energy Storage Systems in Ukraine (BESS) — Stability, Arbitrage, New Revenue
SolarGarden delivers energy storage systems for commercial and utility-scale projects in Ukraine. Our battery energy storage systems (BESS) stabilise the grid, store solar generation and create new revenue streams — one of the most attractive asset classes in a market with high grid instability.
Storage solutions we deliver
- Battery energy storage systems (BESS) for utility and commercial use
- Utility-scale battery storage for grid services and balancing
- Commercial battery storage for industry and businesses
- Solar-plus-storage systems paired with PV generation
Why storage is an especially strong investment in Ukraine
Unlike the stable grids of Western Europe, storage in Ukraine is not a “nice to have” but system-critical. Grid instability creates high, structural demand for utility-scale battery storage; storage enables arbitrage (buy low, sell high), balancing services and security of supply. Verified storage arbitrage pays back in 7.6–9.69 years depending on strategy.
SolarGarden is developing several storage projects — a 10 MW plant and three sites in Izmail with 8 MW storage each — and plans its own BESS manufacturing plant (26-month payback), for which partners are sought.
Hourly rates are indicative fully-loaded EPC/installation labour; labour-hours per MW vary by site and installation type. Adjust the sliders to your assumptions.
The cost advantage
BESS installation also benefits from Ukraine’s labour cost advantage (~€15/h vs €24 in Poland, €45–90 in Western Europe), lowering capex per MW and improving the arbitrage margin.
Live storage projects
10 MW storage plant (2 MW PV + 8 MW battery), three PV+storage sites in Izmail (Odessa, 8 MW each), PV+storage in Cherkasy (2 MW PV + 10.03 MWh) — bank financing confirmed, fund talks underway, plus a planned BESS plant. .
Frequently asked questions
What is a BESS? A system that stores electricity — from solar or grid — and releases it on demand, providing stability and new revenue from arbitrage and grid services.
Is storage a good investment in Ukraine? Yes — high grid instability and growing renewables make it highly attractive; arbitrage payback 7.6–9.69 years.
Does SolarGarden combine solar and storage? Yes, integrated solar-plus-storage systems increase asset value and availability.
Does SolarGarden plan its own BESS production? Yes — a BESS manufacturing plant (26-month payback) is planned; partners are sought.
