Solar Power Plant with Battery Energy Storage in the Odesa Region
A 1.99 MW solar power plant combined with a 2 MW / 9 MWh battery energy storage system, designed to operate on the day-ahead market and the ancillary services market.
In Katlabuh, Odesa Region, Solar Garden implemented a 1.99 MW solar power plant combined with a battery energy storage system.
The solar power plant comprises 3,225 Tongwei TWMND bifacial solar modules rated at 620 W each. As the modules can generate electricity from both sides, they increase annual energy production by approximately 5–7%.
The additional electricity generation helps shorten the project’s estimated payback period by approximately 3–5 months and improves the overall economic efficiency of the solar power plant.
The solar power plant is integrated with a Huawei battery energy storage system with a power rating of 2 MW and a storage capacity of 9 MWh. The system stores generated electricity and enables it to be sold during periods of higher market prices.
The combined solar power and energy storage facility is designed to operate on the day-ahead market and the ancillary services market. This solution enables flexible energy management, increases the profitability of the facility and creates additional opportunities for participating in the Ukrainian electricity market.
The project was implemented within six months, including the development of the technical solution, equipment supply, installation, grid connection and commissioning of the facility.
